First Day of School

A & R, 11th & 8th, are back to school today. They were both dressed in new outfits and excited about their new year. EK had a very hard time letting them go. She sobbed and sobbed but was able to settle down when I reminded her they would be home right after lunch...ish. :) I am praying God's richest blessings on each of them as they begin interact with teachers and friends. I sent them off with a prayer and scripture and know God is working His Love in them and through them. I give them totally to Him... "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus" Heb. 12:2.

First Day of School

The summer flew by in a flash and now we begin the 2008-2009 school year. Amelia was so excited to drive she and Rosemary to school- that was hard for me as a mom- to let them go without me. EllaKate was not ready to let them go either. You can see from the picture that she was pretty upset. We stood in the driveway and watched them drive away- my heart in my throat and my stomach in knots. I got a call about 7:30 from Amelia to reassure me she was safe in her park and walking into school with her friend. The new rule this year is No Cellphones @ School- so that will be a huge adjustment for them and me- I like knowing I could text them if I needed to tell them something but we will all be fine. I pray they have the best first day ever!!!

First Day @ HCMS and HCHS

Today was the first day of school in Hart County. We had orientation last night and it was wonderful @ both schools. Amelia had to pick up her schedule @ 5:00 and then we went to her homeroom @ 6. Jessie, my brother's daughter (Amelia's 1st cousin who is senior this year) took us around and showed Amelia how to get to all her classes. We met all the teachers and lots of new friends. I think Amelia will have a great year!

At 7:00 we went to the middle school for orientation. We started in the gym with a big meeting and then followed her schedule in order to meet her teachers. We were able to meet each teacher and Rosie already knew some friends so it was really fun to see them there. Actually a some new friends of ours, Stephen and Kathy Carter, invited Rosie to Emily's bd party so Rosie could meet some friends before school started. What a sweet thing to do!

Finally about 8:30 we made it home, ate dinner, and got to bed. The girls had so much fun picking out outfits for today and getting their bookbags ready.

This morning was so peaceful. EllaKate and I were up to see Scott off about 6:00 and we got the girls up about 6:30. By 7 they were dressed, fed, rooms cleaned, teeth brushed, and ready to go. We were amazed at how much time we had to just relax.. and play with Ella. We took some pictures. Here they are waiting to go.

I had to leave around 7:45 to drop off Rosie. I was @ the school in 10 minutes. Here is Rosie looking back @ me so I could snap a picture as she walked into Hart Co Middle School. Oh my, how can that be? It seems just yesterday that we stayed home everyday and homeschooled kindergarten. Time passes like turning the pages of a book- said my late grandmother Martin.

Going, Going, gone.....
Jessie wanted to take Amelia on her first day, so she came by about 7:50 to pick up Amelia and Jordan. Jessie is so sweet to be taking such good care of Amelia. How great is it that she can ride with Jessie and walk in with her today and not be afraid of walking alone. Thank You Jesus!!!

As I walked this morning, all I could do was praise the Lord that our first morning had been so wonderful. I pray each day will continue to be blessings for the girls, that they will make lots of friends, and will be so happy here in our new home of Hartwell.

End of School

Today was the last day of school for the girls, and everyone graduated. Savannah-high school, Amelia- middle school, and Rosie- elementary school (Savannah and I went to see her last walk @ Duncan Creek). I guess EllaKate and I could say we graduated our first full year at home with each other. What an amazing feeling it is for each child to come home this last day with a melancholy spirit, ready for summer but sure to miss what has been left behind. Everyone has an unknown ahead of them: Scott- driving to Atlanta each day for work, Me and EllaKate- home every day in Hartwell, Savannah- first year of college @ NG, Amelia- freshman @ Hart Co HS, and Rosemary- 6th grade @ Hart Co MS. EllaKate and I will certainly be glad to wake up in the morning with the house full of sisters! We look forward to a summer that will pass as our lives change forever. We say goodbye to this school year and look forward to what is to come. Happy Summer everyone!!!

Rosie's Holiday Lunch

Scott, EllaKate and I went to Duncan Creek Elem. for Rosemary's holiday luncheon. The lights were low, beautiful music was playing, and a delicious meal had been prepared. We listened to Rosemary's chorus sing some Christmas songs. It was delightful!!!

First Day of School 2006

We are happy to report a very happy first week of school. Savannah left each morning around 6:30 and it took her 30 minutes to travel the three miles to Mill Creek HS. She is excited about all her classes, especially anatomy. She is going to the Body Exhibit @ the Atlanta Civic Center in a couple of weeks.

Rosemary left second @ 8:10. EK and I walked her the bus and saw her off to 5th grade. She has three wonderful teachers!!!- Beth Hendry, Craig Furr, and Stacy Covey. She loves school! The other great news for Rosie is that she starts piano lessons tomorrow after school. She is excited about that too!

Amelia was the last to be off to school. We also walked her down to the bus and she got on about 9:00. She has great teachers too. She is on yearbook this year and is a peer leader. She is excited about those two opportunites. After the bus left, EK and I went on our daily morning walk. It is a nice time to get out and get some fresh air!

The Greatest Class

I want to thank my sweet kindergarten class for such a wonderful year!!! I was so blessed to be their teacher. Each child will always hold a special place in my heart!!! I really enjoyed the end of the year party at the park. Ella Kate would like to thank everyone for the great gifts!!! She really likes the big door toy given to her by the class. We are using the gift card as we need diapers and formula. I hope you all have a great summer, and I will see you all again in the fall when I am there with Rosemary.
