We called the nurse this morning as soon as we woke
to find out Jing had had a good night
but was crying at the moment.
She was given no food after midnight
and no clear liquids after 8am.
While sitting at breakfast this morning in the cafe,
we got a call from the cardiac nurse around 8
that another child waiting for a heart was getting a transplant
and taking Jing's spot.
We were thrilled for that family!!!
At 8:10 we received another call saying it was a maybe
and to carry on as planned.
We were finally able to go in around 9:30.
She looked at us with a very stern look
but let me pick her up right away
and we were friends pretty quickly.
No tears today.
The nurse took a pic of the three of us.
We bought her a balloon with a kitty attached
and that pretty much broke the ice.
We read all her books, played magna doodle,
and used all the stickers we had.
She LOVES stickers!!!
We got word about 11 that she would indeed
go to surgery and everyone began hopping around.
They had to give her meds by mouth to make drowsy~
that didn't go over very well.
It took Scott and the nurse to dose her
and she was NOT happy!
I was able to pick her back up afterwards
and she dozed off on my shoulder.
I just stood there praying my heart out!!!
They asked me to lay her on the bed to be rolled out
but that was NOT happening.
She held onto me for dear life
and the man smiled and said, "Hop on with her".
I was able to hold her all the way to the OR door.
She was taken away by a sweet nurse named Stacy.
We have received our first call from OR
and once she stepped into the room,
she stopped crying and went under anesthesia easily.
Surgery has begun with a different doctor~
Dr. Kanter.
We pray his hands are guided by the Great Physician.
And I have seen the healing hand of God
Reaching out and mending broken hearts
Taste and see the fullness of His peace
And hold on to what's being held out
The healing hand of God
Reaching out and mending broken hearts
Taste and see the fullness of His peace
And hold on to what's being held out
The healing hand of God

Praying for the surgical team and surgeon as they begin the process to "heal" Shaylee's heart. May they be guided by the ultimate Healer in heaven and may He receive all the honor and glory. May God give you strength in the hours and days ahead.
ReplyDeleteShay: We are praying. Thank God for good doctors at CHOA.
ReplyDeleteOh praise God for a safe induction! Praying right now that the Lord is guiding every step.
ReplyDeleteA friend of ours shared these lyrics on the day of Georgia's surgery. They are from Casting Crowns, Voice of Truth
"Voice Of Truth"
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of faith it takes to climb out of this boat I'm in
Onto the crashing waves
To step out of my comfort zone
To the realm of the unknown where Jesus is
And He's holding out his hand
But the waves are calling out my name and they laugh at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed
The waves they keep on telling me
Time and time again. 'Boy, you'll never win!'
"You'll never win"
But the voice of truth tells me a different story
And the voice of truth says "Do not be afraid!"
And the voice of truth says "This is for My glory"
Out of all the voices calling out to me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
Oh what I would do to have
The kind of strength it takes to stand before a giant
With just a Sling and a stone
Surrounded by the sound of a thousand warriors
Shaking in their armor
Wishing they'd have had the strength to stand
But the giant's calling out my name and he laughs at me
Reminding me of all the times I've tried before and failed
The giant keeps on telling me
Time and time again "boy, you'll never win!
"You'll never win"
But the stone was just the right size
To put the giant on the ground
And the waves they don't seem so high
From on top of them looking down
I will soar with the wings of eagles
When I stop and listen to the sound of Jesus
Singing over me
I will choose to listen and believe the voice of truth
Praising God already for the mighty work He is doing today in your daughter's heart...

I am a first time post on your site but I followed your journey in China. We brought home Emma from China in 9/2009. I just wanted you to know my heart goes out to you and that our entire family is praying for Jing Jing, the rest of your family and the entire surgical team taking care of her. I work in surgery myself and know how hard it is for the family out waiting while we work on their loved ones. I pray that God watches over Jing Jing and she has a very quick recovery.
ReplyDeletePrayers for your precious daughter, may HE guide the doctors and nurses and may HE give you the strength and comfort you need to smile instead of stress, and a quick and beautiful recovery for JingJing. I know these surgeries are often even more difficult for us mommys and daddys. HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that I am just now reading this post...after surgery. I'm crying hard enough as it is. I'm so very thankful that she is ok!!
