Travel Day to Fuzhou

Today was a day of travel. We were up early and off to breakfast. We took a walk around the resort and then back in to pack. Our flight was @ 3:15 so we headed to the airport around noon.

The Hong Kong airport is amazing with a huge mall and lots of places to eat. We found the same Burger King we ate at when on our way home with EllaKate back in 2006

Smooth flight landing about 4:30 and met our sweet guide Isabel. She and a driver drove us about an hour to our hotel in Fuzhou.

We ordered McDonald's takeout for dinner and now relaxing. I have the gifts and papers all ready for tomorrow.

Tomorrow... tomorrow is ShayleeJoy's Forever Family Day. :) Praying like crazy for her!!!

  1. I'm wondering how we missed a BK when we were in China in 2006?! We also missed Starbucks, too. I guess we didn't roam too much... :-)

I have butterflies in my stomach knowing you are getting so close to Shaylee Joy and that you'll be loving on her soon. I just said a prayer that she will know you are her parents and that things will go smoothly. I pray that EK will rise to the occasion as she welcomes her new sister into the family, as it will be a big adjustment for her, too.

I am sure you are missing all your family but I pray you feel at peace about being apart.

    Love to you~

  2. I am so glad you are still able to post!!! Glad to see EK smiling. I hope she is doing well. I will keep her in my prayers. She reminds me a lot of LiLi.

I had to laugh with your pictures. Oh the bikes! I almost forgot how many bikes there were. I bet you feel like you are in some weird dream at this point.

I am so happy for you. I can't wait to see the next few posts. Take care and try to get some rest tonight. Tomorrow is the BIG day for you.

  11. The anticipation is killing me! I get tears in my eyes and goosebumps every time I think about your first meeting with SJ. Praying that SJ (and you, too!) will be given a special reserve of strength & courage tomorrow to deal with all the emotion it's bound to have. Hugs!

As a side note, it's nifty to see your pics of the HK airport and have them look familiar. :) Someone at one of the restaurants there was kind enough to fill our thermos with hot water so that we could make M a bottle. Great memories!

  12. A regret that I have regarding my child's birth city which maybe you might think about: I'm not a big scrapbooker, but for my child's sake, someone mentioned asking your guide ALL about her town or city -- to journal later for her sake. What's the industry, history, food of choice, clothing difference, most popular activities, etc. to scrapbook later. Wish I had written it down or asked more from our guide about these things.
