Happy Birthday Savannah!

I should start by wishing everyone a Happy 4th and now to the story.

2o, yes 20! years ago, Scott and I VERY pregnant with our first baby. Scott was running in the Peachtree Road Race and I was planning to go with him. I woke up not feeling all that well (lower back pain) so I decided to just stay home. Scott left and not 30 minutes or so later, I began to have contractions and called my neighbor, Susan. She said we better go to the hospital and when we got there, they admitted me saying I was going to have a little firecracker that day.

My first thought was how in the world would I be able to have the baby without Scott. Susan said it would be fine and I shouldn't worry- he would be there as quick as he could. He called home that morning after the race (from a payphone- no cell phones back then to get no answer) and then called Susan's house and her husband told him we were at the hospital. He panicked and ran to his truck, safely sped to the hospital arriving there around 10:30. Plenty of time! I got my epidural soon after and waited for what I thought would be our little son (because I wanted a little daughter so bad)!

We began the delivery process and around 3:10 I delivered the most beautiful baby GIRL in the world: 6.8 lbs. The doctor said, "Well hello Savannah Lee Ankerich" when she was born. I just cried and cried tears of joy. They placed her in my arms and I think I pretty much held her the rest of the day. We were so in love with that precious baby and it has grown beyond belief for 20 years.

Savannah is the most precious grown daughter. She is genuinely in love with Jesus and this flows into every part of her life: parents, sisters, boyfriend, family,friends, school, and church. We couldn't be more proud of her and all that she has become. We look so forward to watching her life unfold over the next 20 years... boy, I will be old. :) I love you sweet first daughter of mine!!! You are one of the sweetest blessings in my life!!!
